 2019 Schedule of Events and Shows at J.N. Long Cultural Arts Complex

Annual Shows

  • March 2 – March 30: Fiber Arts Show is open to all quilters, knitters, weavers etc.
    • Turn-in dates for entry to the show are Tuesday,  February 26 – Saturday, March 2
    • No charge to enter pieces.
    • Participants need not be a member of CFCA or any of our member groups
    • Limit 3 pieces per artisan. (More permitted depending on size.)
  • April 5 – May 4: Woodcarvers and 3D Art Show is open to all woodcarvers, gourd carvers, recycled artists and other 3 dimensional artists.  
    • Turn-in dates for entry to the show are Tuesday, March 26 – Friday, April 5
    • No charge to enter pieces.
    • Participants need not be a member of CFCA or any of our member groups
    • Limit 5 pieces per artisan.
  • April 20: Iris Show is presented by the Johnson County Iris and Day-lily Society.  
  • May 11- June 8: Photography Show is open to all local, amateur and professional photographers of all ages. 
    • Turn-in dates for entry to the show are Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5
    • No charge to enter pieces.
    • Participants need not be a member of CFCA or any of our member groups
    • Limit 5 pieces per artisan.
  • June 15 – July 27: People’s Choice Show is open to all artists and artisans of all ages.
    • Turn-in dates for entry to the show are Saturday June 8, Tuesday June 11 and Wednesday June 12
    • $10 Fee per entry for adults and $5 for up to age 18
    • Participants need not be a member of CFCA or any of our member groups
    • Limit 3 pieces per artisan.
  • August 3 – September 21: Art Around the World an exhibit to reflects life outside of the U.S.A. Any genre accepted from all age groups.
    • Turn-in dates for entry to the show are Saturday July 27, Tuesday, July 30 and Wednesday, July 31
    • No charge to enter pieces.
    • Participants need not be a member of CFCA or any of our member groups
    • Limit 5 pieces per artisan.
  • September 28 – November 2: Interpretive Show J.N. Long Cultural Arts Complex’s signature show. Members of the Cleburne Camera Club submit photos which are ‘interprted’ by members of the Johnson County Art Guild and displayed together with prose provided by The Creative Writer.s of Johnson County.

*All artwork must be family friendly. No Nudes or Vulgarity. JN Long Cultural Arts Complex reserves the right to reject any entry.

  • June 1 – July 30                Gold of Eldorado: Pre-Hispanic Art of Columbia
  • July 1 – July 31                 The Art of Chivalry: European Arms & Armor
  • August 1 to August 31      The Treasures of Tutankhamun
Exhibits on loan from Humanities Texas an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Endangered Species

  • June 1 – June 30              Journey to Africa: Elephants
  • July 1 to July 31                Tiger ! Tiger !
Interactive displays with games and puzzles from Paly Foundation.

Transportation Exhibit

  • Cleburne Tracks Model Train Exhibit of the Cleburne Railroad Yards, Charles Worlow, a former police officer spent, 30 years building this.  Story on WFAA
  • HO Scale Model Train Exhibit, Created by Brig. General Donald Goodman, US Air Force
  • Two model ships by Production Designer Curtis Schnell. The Model of the USS Constitution was used on the set of the TV Series Crossing Jordan.
  • Free Library, Adult and Children’s Sections. Take books and/or donate books. Hours 10-4 Mondays thru Saturdays.
